Day 12 – More than 10 UACs

Ok, yesterday i was developing some O.S. service and i need to copy files at restricted areas or launch programs (like Visual Studio 2008 or cmd.exe) like administrator. Also i need to install some programs. These was some of my UACs prompt:

I installed Office Genuine Advantage plug-in for Firefox…
… to install Save as PDF and XPS plugin for Office 2007.
I also installed thwirl
I activated IIS 7.0 in my Windows Vista instalation
I do some actions (create/delete/modified files) in inetpub folder
I executed the IIS Manager several times… a lot of times!
I access some restricted folder in C:\Windows\System32

Day 11 – 0 UACs

Emmmm Three day in a row without accepting any UAC. What will say now those that blame UACs promts to be one of the Windows Vista fails?

As i said yesterday, i talked in a public conference at lancelona. I was traveling all day, reading a book and watching some films. I didn’t accept any UAC today.

Day 8 – 6 UACs

Today i was preparing a public speak and i need some programs that i hadn’t install before.

I installed PHP…
… Virtual PC 2007…
… nmap…
… ActivePerl…
… SWF Decompiler…
… and internet Explorer 8 Beta 2!!

I think this is the last grand pack of applications that i need to install, so dont expect a huge UAC day

Day 7 – 1 UACs

The day i finish my first week tracking the “annoying” UAC i only had to accept one UAC dialog.

Update Adobe AIR

After seven days i only accept 38 UACs, about 5 per day. I didn’t miss any program but i’m sure they will appear as soon i need they.

A quick update today (lot of work here… ) Yesterday i installed:

Tomorrow i’ll make a review about my first week with a clean Windows Vista installation.

Only TWO UAcs??? Yes! My computer is almost complete and the fifth day i only need to accept 2 UACs dialogs:

I allowed Microsoft Cross-Platform Audio Creation Tool to bypass Windows Firewall
I installed Audiacity

Sorry for the delay but i was sleeping after one of the best basketball matchs.

Yesterday some friends and me started to write a videogame and i needed to install some extra programs.

I installed Java Runtime Enviroment…
… Cain & Abel…
… XNA 3.0…
… Team Explorer…
… Consolas Font Pack for Visual Studio…
… and DosBOX
I allowed BBC Radio widget to bypass Windows Firewall
I set my friends home network as private.

Day 3 – 6 UACs

Where are those annoying UACs dialogs appearing every moment? Yesterday i had only SIX UACs prompts from these actions:

Note that is the first time i had not to approve any administrative action and yesterday was a normal day at the office, this means, when i finish to install all the needed software i’m going to have a lot of “zero days”.
